Q&A

with Practitioner Matthew Joiner

Do you specialize in any specific treatment approaches (CBT, medication-assisted
treatment, holistic care)?

Our practice specializes in personalized, evidence-based care, with a strong focus on medication management. While we do not provide formal psychotherapy like CBT in-house, our psychiatric nurse practitioners incorporate supportive therapeutic techniques and psychoeducation into each visit.

We also recognize the importance of a holistic approach—considering sleep, lifestyle, nutrition, and stress when tailoring treatment plans. When appropriate, we offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for conditions like ADHD, anxiety, and depression.

For patients needing formal therapy, we often refer to trusted therapists while continuing to manage medication and overall mental wellness. Our goal is to treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

What are the main reasons patients seek your services?

Patients come to us for compassionate, personalized mental health care that fits their lives. Many are seeking support for conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, or life transitions, and they value the flexibility and privacy of virtual care.

We often hear from patients who’ve felt rushed or overlooked in larger systems. As a small, family-owned practice, we take time to truly listen and build trust. Our patients appreciate that we prioritize quality care over volume and that we’re easy to reach with questions or concerns.

People choose us because they want convenient, consistent, and thoughtful psychiatric care—from providers who genuinely care.

What treatments do you offer for ADHD, anxiety, and depression?

We offer comprehensive, individualized treatment for ADHD, anxiety, and depression.

Our psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners work closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan.
This may include:

  • Medication management tailored to each diagnosis and patient needs

  • Supportive psychotherapy and psychoeducation during visits

  • Referrals to therapists or other specialists when needed

  • Ongoing monitoring and follow-up to ensure the best outcomes

Because we’re a small, family-owned practice, we prioritize connection and continuity of care. Our goal is to make patients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

Do you provide ongoing patient
support beyond appointments?
(coaching, resources, support groups)

Yes—we’re committed to supporting our patients beyond just appointments. Our office coordinator is available by phone or text to help with scheduling, medication refills, and general questions, making it easy for patients to stay connected between visits.

While we don’t offer formal coaching or support groups at this time, we provide trusted resources, education, and referrals to therapists, support groups, or programs that may benefit each patient’s journey.

We believe in building lasting relationships with our patients and making sure they never feel alone in their care.

What are common misconceptions about your services or the conditions you treat?

One common misconception is that virtual psychiatric care is impersonal or less effective. In reality, our patients often feel more comfortable opening up in their own space—and we work hard to build real, trusting relationships through each visit.

Another misconception is that medication is a “last resort” or a quick fix. We help patients understand that medication can be a valuable tool when thoughtfully prescribed and monitored, especially when combined with lifestyle changes and support.

For conditions like ADHD, anxiety, or depression, some people still believe they should “just push
through it.” We remind patients that these are real, treatable medical conditions—not personal
failings—and seeking help is a sign of strength.

How do you stand out from competitors?

We stand out because we’re a small, family-owned practice that truly puts people first. Unlike large clinics, we focus on building lasting relationships with our patients—not rushing through appointments or treating them like a number.

We’re fully virtual, which gives our patients statewide access to care from the comfort and
privacy of home. But we’re still highly personal—our patients can call or text us directly, and
they always know who they’re talking to.
Our team of psychiatric nurse practitioners offers compassionate, evidence-based care, and we’re committed to making the process simple and supportive, from scheduling to insurance paperwork.

In short, we offer the kind of care we’d want for our own family.
